Eli + Alyssa // a proposal
Alyssa and I went to school together, we were both (only two in our graduating class) dual majors – photography and graphic design – so we didn’t just see each other once in a while, we spent the better part of our last two years of college in computer labs, the lighting studio, dark rooms and classrooms side by side. In our last year of school Alyssa started dating Eli – I knew something was new when she came to class glowing brighter than her iMac. I also knew that something was really wonderful about Eli when the glow never faded. We graduated and Eli and Alyssa moved to Portland. Then, this past August I got a Facebook message from Eli. He was planning on proposing and he had the idea of flying Sage and I, as well as Alyssa’s best friend, her husband, and Alyssa’s cousin out to Oregon to be a part of the celebration. I WAS IN. Then the scheming began!!
I didn’t know Eli as well as I know Alyssa but by the time he pulled the ring out of his back pocket on that stunning hilltop in Hood River, Oregon, I was convinced – this guy is a champ, and I’m thrilled for sweet, wonderful Alyssa to walk through life with him. If he was willing to plan a rendezvous of so many people from all over the country while custom making a ring – all with care, thought, generosity, and humility – all for the purpose of honoring his future bride, I know he can care for her well as they adventure together in the covenant of marriage.
Eli and Alyssa, I am beyond honored that I was asked to be a part of something so special, sacred and holy. Thank you. And I’m so excited to know you and live life with you (even if from afar) as you walk into and through a life lived knowing one another and loving one another more and more. Congratulations you two, so much love to you. You are two of the very best!!
